The Ritual Master Crochet Tree Skirt
I am getting closer and closer to the moment I trim the tree, so this is the time to prepare whatever new ornaments or accessories I need. This year I decided to test out a crochet tutorial and make myself a tree skirt.
I find them very elegant, either for a natural or an artificial tree, and this pattern is really easy to make.
Crocheting is always great fun, and with a chunky yarn like this, you get to see the result in just over an hour, so the satisfaction is immediate. I admit it’s not the easiest yarn to use, and even if you have had some experience, you still need to get the feel of it, as you will mostly rely on your touch to know where to insert your hook, but the faux-fur is very enjoyable, and once you get the hang of it, you’re done in no time.

Salt Dough Ornaments
As for the tree ornaments, I want to try an old school traditional salt dough to make some decorations. Since living in France, I often hear people make either an easy shortbread dough or a salt dough and enjoy an evening of cookie making for the tree with the children.

All you need is a cookie cutter and they’re off to the oven. Low heat so they don’t brown too much, and turning them over once… and we have ourselves some beautiful home-made ornaments to put on the tree…
If you have some acrylic paint, you can decorate them to suit your other decorations. I had only some nail polish, but a touch of gold ans some ribbon is all they need.
An easy and fun activity, that you can admire all season long. Happy baking, everyone !
