As part of this my Book Walk article inspired by Elvire de Brissac’s Le Long du Luxembourg, I spent a sunlit afternoon wandering through the Luxembourg Gardens—one of Paris’s most storied and beloved spaces. While the article invites you to walk through history with words, this photo gallery captures the quiet poetry of the present moment.
From elegant statues half-draped in shadow to bursts of summer color in the flowerbeds, these images are a visual echo of the stories I encountered in the book—fragments of past and present meeting in the gardens’ leafy pathways. I hope they offer you a glimpse of the beauty I found there.
Scroll through and let your eyes linger—like reading, photography is another way of noticing.

I’m Alexandra, the voice behind The Ritual of Reading. Somewhere between a stack of novels and a half-finished pot of tea, I keep finding traces of the life I want to live—slower, richer, filled with stories. The Ritual of Reading is where I gather what I love: books that linger, places with a past, and rituals that make ordinary days feel a little more meaningful. I write from Paris, where elegant bookshops and old-fashioned cafés offer endless inspiration—and I share it here, hoping it brings a spark to your own days, too.
