As if Agatha Christie’s novels were not already perfect for winter, she left us some special gifts dedicated to Christmas. And one of them is The adventure of the Christmas Pudding.
A Hercule Poirot investigation, this short story has all the elements you would want : an English countryside setting, an intrigue of light suspense, characters to make things interesting, and a Christmas pudding of the highest quality.
The story makes me want to create a perfect oldschool Christmas, the stuffed goose and perfect roast potatoes, not to mention the dessert…
So instead, I’ll have myself a nice cup of tea while reading, and keep on dreaming…
The book contains a total of 6 mysteries, solved both by Hercule Poirot and Miss Marple, and they are all lovely. You could easily spend 6 evenings in December reading them with a cup of mulled wine next to you and some carols in the background.
December is also about making the most out of every workday evening, or time spent on your commute, it’s all the ordinary moments that we get a chance to embellish. And these short but exciting investigations are perfect for just that.
